What does a typical work day at Ethos Migration Lawyers look like?

At Ethos Migration Lawyers, my workday is a juggling act, requiring me to wear multiple hats simultaneously. I firmly believe that the first few hours of the day set the tone for the rest of the day. That's why I always like to start my preparation the night before, setting me up for the day ahead.

I organise everything needed for the next day, not just for myself, but also for my energetic two-year-old son. This preparation is crucial to ensure that my family navigates the morning chaos smoothly, allowing me to begin my work when I get into the office in the morning.

Once I step through the office door, my first order of business is always to greet my colleagues with a smile, setting a positive tone for the day ahead. Then, I dive into client case work whilst supervising and mentoring staff and managing the day to day operations of the firm.

No two days are the same in the immigration jurisdiction, and each one brings its own set of challenges which I thrive on. After the workday is done, I make sure to prioritise quality family time and try to fit in some exercise ( a Pilates class) where I can.

What makes you feel confident at Ethos Migration Lawyers?

My confidence at work stems from a multitude of factors, all of which contribute not only to my personal growth but my overall professional development. I firmly believe that success is not solely an individual effort, rather the collective strength of a team. In short, the Ethos Migration Lawyers team as a whole is what makes me feel confident every day.

Having strong support on legal matters enhances our efficiency as a team, but also provides a sense of confidence. It’s comforting knowing I work alongside capable, hard working and likeminded individuals which fosters a supportive environment.

Working in a positive and supported environment, empowers me to tackle the challenges that each day may bring, with the confidence that I have the support of the team, as they also have my support behind them.

Based on what you know now, if you could give your younger self some advice, what would this be?

If I had the chance to speak to my younger self, I would emphasise the importance of letting go of the pressure of perfectionism. Early in my career, I doubted my abilities, and naturally, as humans, that self-doubt sometimes still creeps into our everyday lives. However, I’ve learned to embrace my journey, picking up valuable experiences and learnings along the way.

Navigating the legal sector, especially migration law, requires staying abreast of the ever-changing landscapes. Yet, I’ve discovered that having a strong foundation and knowing where to find answers is an invaluable asset.

With the right resources, processes and support systems in place, I’ve been able to be my best self both professionally and personally.
