SOCIAL JUSTICE FORUM


Exchange views on social justice issues affecting women working in the law, women coming into contact with the law and women generally, via film screenings and expert panel discussions.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT


Attend events aimed at broadening knowledge of the law and legal practice, and earn CPD points for attendance at qualifying VWL events.

REWARDING PROGRAMS


Participate in programs specially designed to facilitate women’s advancement in the law, such as the annual Law Student Mentoring Program and the Warren Moot, the only all-woman mooting competition in Australia.

CONNECTION OPPORTUNITIES


Connect with colleagues in the legal profession and other professional associations – such as the Women Barristers’ Association and Women in Finance – via networking events and cross-industry conferences.

CAREER DEVELOPMENT


Attend events aimed at assisting women lawyers to develop their careers. Regular annual topics cover coming to the Bar, progression for women lawyers in government and career motivation.


PEER SUPPORT


Grow from mentoring and peer support via committee work and an expanding base of contacts in the legal industry.

DIVERSE COMMITTEES


Get involved in a diverse range of committee activities and represent women lawyers on legal issues affecting women. Learn about committee governance, gain experience in leadership and teamwork, and earn CPD points for committee participation.

IMPORTANT PROJECTS


Shape the law and effect change in the legal profession and for women by conducting research into areas of law reform, developing parliamentary submissions and working on community projects like our Women Migrants Legal Information Project’s radio broadcasts.

The 2022-2023 membership year runs from 1 July 2022 to 30 June 2023.

Your VWL membership is valid in the financial year you have paid, unless early bird registration is open for the new financial year. If you have paid your membership prior to the new financial year, or early bird registration, your VWL membership must be renewed.
