A key mentor who influenced my career is...

my close friend (and unintended career advisor), Natalie. Natalie first suggested that I study law online through Deakin because I was embedded in full time work in another industry. She supported me and reminded me every step of the way that I am capable of achieving my goals. Natalie has pushed me (and continues to do so) in all the best ways to help me to build my confidence in myself and my career. I’m not sure I would have become a lawyer without her!

I became a lawyer because…

I was attracted to the glory and the prestige, but what has kept me in the profession is how much I enjoy problem solving in an area of the law which is focused on people. I thrive on helping my clients to unravel tricky issues and meet their commercial goals.

The best advice I ever received was...

to thoroughly think through the issue I’m presented with before launching into an answer. This helps show that you are confident in your advice and in yourself which gains the trust of your clients and colleagues.

Outside of law...

I enjoy hiking and the fresh air. I look forward to travelling overseas again and ticking off my bucket list all the well-known hikes of the world. Nature helps me to de-compress and get off screens.
